Elephant herds regularly traverse the dry lake bed in Amboseli to forage in the nutrient-rich swamps, returning to their resting area across the lake bed at dusk or later. On one such fortunate evening, I was lucky enough to capture the majestic sight of a herd of elephants silhouetted against the vibrant orange hues of the setting sun. The contrast between the dark forms of these mega herbivores and the warm colours of the sky created a breathtaking scene. As the elephants made their way back to their resting grounds, the fading light accentuated the tranquility of the moment, making it an unforgettable experience.
