Summer 2025, Mainz, Germany
This photograph was taken after we left the city behind and returned to a life closer to nature. Each day we pass by the poppy fields, their fragile brightness marking the rhythm of the seasons and reminding us of the beauty in impermanence.
The flower covering my child’s face transforms the image into something more universal: a fleeting glimpse of childhood, both intimate and anonymous. It speaks of innocence, of the way children seem to belong entirely to the present moment, yet also of how quickly those moments slip away.
For me, this picture holds a quiet tension—between playfulness and reflection, between the lightness of summer air and the deeper search for identity. In the embrace of the fields, we find not only nature’s presence but also a mirror of our own becoming.
